Our Chairperson in HU:Dr. Basma Faour,

       This fall 13-14 semester I’ve been taking the course of  Instr. Media & Technology  EDU 232, and I would like to share with you  my  experience in this course and especially  that Dr. Basma Faour , Chairperson of Social and Behavioral Sciences faculty in Haigazian University is teaching it.

 This course has provided me the following useful knowledge:

First, I learned how to integrate media and technology through the ASSURE model in my lesson plans more effectively and attractively. I learned when and how to include media and for what purpose. Second, I learned how to create my own media like worksheets, charts and even blogs. Third, I became more familiar with media i.e. I understand that media does not only mean Internet and social networks like Facebook for example. Fourth, I learned about the
key components of the framework for 21st century learning which I should take them   into consideration as a future teacher . This course allowed me   to understand what media really means and its importance for 21st century learners to whom I will be teaching. As well as how much it is important for me to know and use media in my teaching and career development.

-Well, I have really learned  a lot from this course that made me change my thinking about integrating technology in teaching; however, the three ideas are the following:

- When we discussed; that it is not necessary to use expensive or ready manipulative media  but we can create our own media like worksheets, charts, graphs, and posters.

- When we discussed about 21st century students' characteristics and that how technology and media is part of their lives i.e. how much it is important for them.

- When we discussed about using websites to be updated and benefit from the blogs of other teachers by using the technology.

The three ideas that were discussed in this course that I learned and were new to me are the following:

- First of all ,I learned writing a lesson plan through ASSURE model.I also learned how the ASSURE model assists in the systematic approach in planning lessons that effectively integrate classroom use of technology.

  -  I learned about the 6 types of media.

-          I learned about the general principles for creating visuals whether it is through exploring visual literacy or  visual design  or  digital images  or  for teaching students to interpret visuals.

         Lastly ,I confess that Dr. Basma had a great role  in this course in many ways. Such as ,when she showed us how we can create things in an easy way   by using the Microsoft Word program. The feedbacks that she provided on every single project were very useful for me. Moreover; I was very impressed  when she answered to every question that we asked with a smile on her face. Finally, I owe her for teaching me how to create this blog which I am proud that I have made it ! J
